I like big buses
Metro is rolling out the first of 295 new buses on the 16th Street corridor, and more are on the way. The new buses will be more reliable and less prone to breakdowns on the road. However, there’s still no word on bus lanes, signal priority, or off board fare machines. (WAMU) (Tip: KC)
7000s delayed
Metro’s new 7000-series cars are arriving slower than expected and many also have problems like loose seats. The delay means the oldest cars which don’t meet safety standards are still running. (Post)
Orange and Silver return
Metro restored full service to the Stadium-Armory station on Monday. Only the Blue Line had been stopping at the station since September, when a fire damaged an electrical substation. (WAMU)
Metro might make money

Alexandria archeology
Archaeologists have discovered the remnants of Alexandria’s first public building, a warehouse built over 250 years ago. The spot where the timber foundations were discovered is the site of a planned new waterfront hotel. (Post)
Route 7 solutions
Northern Virginia is looking at transit options on Route 7 between Falls Church and Alexandria. Possibilities include light rail and bus rapid transit, and the study is considering which part of Alexandria to link to. (WTOP)
