22 pedestrians have been killed by drivers so far this year in Fairfax County
Tomas Escudero Machado was killed early in the morning of December 18 while crossing Arlington Boulevard. His death is the 22nd “pedestrian-related” crash in Fairfax County this year, far ahead of the 13 similar crashes that were reported last year. (Olivia Diaz / Post)
After 14 years, the new Temple Courts will get its first low-income residents back
The original public housing project was taken down in 2008, and residents were promised access to new units in a revitalized mixed-income community when reconstruction was complete. As of now, 61 of the 65 units reserved for former residents are occupied. Developer purchases properties to create 75 units of multifamily housing on H Street

Alexandria historic district considers asking developer to remove HVAC piping from house

Rose Hill shopping center redevelopment plan submitted; neighbors form coalition to oppose it
The redevelopment proposal for the shopping center on Rose Hill Road in Franconia has been submitted to the Fairfax County Site-Specific Plan Amendment Process. If approved, redevelopment would start in 2027 when the current leases expire.
