Forty four years ago the Washington Capitals NHL team was nearly named the Washington Metros. We thought it would be fun to host an unofficial contest to design a logo for the Metros. Vote for your favorite today!

There were, of course, a lot of snarky suggestions. On Twitter, the favored joke seemed to be fire. Among those of you who submitted images, the favored joke was broken escalators.

Snarky answers aside, we got four bona fide responses. You can see them here, and use the poll to vote for your favorite. The poll will be open until 2:00 pm on Wednesday 6/13, after which we'll declare a winner!
