Dense housing is for families too

I’m on the radio, twice
On Monday, WAMU discussed the 10¢ fare hike. I explained how our fares are actually lower than many major metropolitan transit systems. Today, they ran a story about the K Street transitway and the rumor that K Street’s name played a role. We talked about a lot of other things as well, but it didn’t make it in.
New daytime parking deal in Adams Morgan
Jim Graham and the Adams Morgan BID worked out a deal with the Colonial garage in Adams Morgan for shoppers to park for 4 hours for $6 during the day, cheaper than the $8 cost at meters. This sounds great—existing parking is better utilized without public subsidy, and we want off-street to be cheaper for long periods so on-street spaces are available for quick uses.
DC gets snow money, Alexandria ha’ sno money

Another tax break
The DC Council unanimously granted a $5 million tax break for a project at 3rd and H, NE. CFO Natwar Gandhi said the District can’t afford it. The article makes it seem the break is only for extra tax revenue generated from the project, which wouldn’t happen otherwise, so I’m not clear what Gandhi means. (Examiner)
