A cafe in Japan (created temporarily as an art project) offers snacks and drinks. However, once you place your order, you instead get whatever the previous person ordered. No asking the other person or ordering twice. (Cabel’s Blog LOL via Marginal Revolution).
HOT lane opposition growing
Prince William County may join Arlington’s lawsuit against HOT lanes. Arlington Chairman Barbara Favola has been talking with fellow county leaders. According to the article (which seems to be down at the moment), Prince William sees their interests as aligned with Arlington on this. That’s probably not an interest in keeping all the spillover traffic out of Arlington, but in avoiding handing the HOV lanes over to Fluor-Transurban for 80 years with provisions that discourage carpooling.
Stimulus projects creating congestion
Roger Lewis’ latest column criticizes states’ stimulus spending for too much widening of arterials that will lead to more congestion soon. He suggests a greater focus on transit along with some road pricing; he also still likes the ICC (and more beltways?) (Post)
