On Wednesday, August 21 the NoMa Business Improvement District (BID) released an open letter expressing frustration about underpass encampments in the area. This April, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) presented initial design ideas for the long-awaited “deck-over” project that would cover Connecticut Avenue’s open-air underpass north of Dupont Circle. NoMa’s light-up underpass art could come by March
NoMa will install “Rain,” comprised of 4,000 LED light rods hung from an underpass ceiling in a series of vaults, on M Street. “Lightweave,” a series of lights that drop from the ceiling in an undulating manner similar to clouds, is coming to L Street. Keep reading…
