The new Circulators and the Metro map
Yesterday, DC launched two new Circulator routes. One connects Woodley Park, Columbia Heights, and McPherson Square Metros with the neighborhoods along Columbia Road and 14th Street, while the other runs from Union Station to Eastern Market and then to the Navy Yard and ballpark. Keep reading…

DDOT: NextBus not the answer for Circulator

Circulator thrombosis
Saturday afternoon, in the rain, Greater Greater Fiancée and I waited 31 minutes at 20th and K for a westbound Circulator. The Circulator advertises a bus every 10 minutes, all day. K Street Transitway delayed seven years, again
DC has a plan on the books to reconfigure K Street, creating a dedicated, physically separated bus lane in each direction. The original “K Street Transitway” study happened in 2004, but there’s been little to no progress since. Many local leaders have proposed rapid buses of one kind or another. WMATA has the existing 79 express bus on Georgia Avenue, and has proposed rapid bus corridors. Montgomery Councilmember Marc Elrich has his own rapid bus plan. The Purple Line alternatives included bus options, as does the Corridor Cities Transitway. Council will debate parking meter hike Monday
On Monday, the DC Council will consider Jim Graham’s proposal to raise DC on-street parking meter fees (except in existing performance parking zones). $1/hour meters would become $1.50, and 50¢/hr to 75¢. Also, Saturday parking downtown would no longer be free. Keep reading…
