Inauguration every day? Metro studying bike/ped access
Over the next 20 years, Metro ridership is expected to grow significantly (up 40% from 2005). According to Metro’s Kristen Haldeman, that will make the Inauguration Day crowds a daily experience. Metro installing new generation of SmarTrip card readers
Metro is installing new SmarTrip card readers at many Metro stations. They expects to complete the installation around the end of August. The new readers are backwards-compatible with the current proprietary Smartrip card system, and forward compatible with ISO 14443 Type A and Type B cards, which are the standardized payment cards in the transit and bank card industries. Red Line suspended part of Thursday and most of Saturday
Tomorrow (Thursday) and Saturday, Metro will suspend Red Line service between Fort Totten and Silver Spring, splitting the red line into two segments and closing the Takoma station. The NTSB needs to close the line as part of its crash investigation. Keep reading…
