Kaela first joined Street Sense Media as an editorial intern in 2021. In January 2022, she was hired as deputy editor. She holds a B.A. in journalism and anthropology from American University. Prior to joining Street Sense Media, she worked as a freelance journalist in the District covering LGBTQ issues, human rights, and health for publications including the Washington Blade, NBC Out, and The DC Line.
