A small team of staff drives many of the vital behind-the-scenes functions of the blog and our organization.

  • David Alpert

    Founder and President

    David Alpert is Founder and President of Greater Greater Washington and Executive Director of DC Sustainable Transportation (DCST). He worked as a Product Manager for Google for six years and has lived in the Boston, San Francisco, and New York metro areas in addition to Washington, DC. He lives with his wife and two children in Dupont Circle. Unless otherwise noted, opinions in his GGWash posts are his and not the official views of GGWash or DCST.

  • Sarah Guidi

    Managing Director

    Sarah Guidi is Greater Greater Washington's Managing Director. A social worker by training, Sarah brings knowledge of nonprofit management, policy and advocacy, and community engagement to Greater Greater Washington. When she's not working, she enjoys visiting new parts of the city by bike, doing gymnastics, and reading novels. Sarah lives in the Petworth neighborhood of DC. 

  • Julie Strupp

    Lead Editor

    Julie Strupp is Lead Editor at Greater Greater Washington. She's a journalist committed to building equitable communities and finding solutions. Previously she's worked for DCist,  Washingtonian, and the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism. You can usually find her sparring with her judo club, pedaling around the city, or kicking it with her neighbors on her Park View stoop. 

  • David Whitehead

    Housing Program Organizer

    David Whitehead is the Housing Program Organizer at Greater Greater Washington.  A former high school math teacher and a community organizer, David works to broaden and deepen Greater Greater Washington’s efforts to make the region more livable and inclusive through education, advocacy and organizing. He lives in Edgewood.

Our board focuses on the strategic direction of the organization and ensures we can remain sustainable and strong for the long term.

  • David Harrington

    David Harrington is President and CEO of the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining the Chamber, David completed fifteen years of public life as Mayor of Bladensburg, Prince George’s County Council Member, and Maryland State Senator. David is a graduate of Howard University and completed graduate work at Miami University of Ohio. He lives in Prince George's County with his wife Cheryl, owner of Shortcake Bakery in Hyattsville, They have two sons.

  • Mary Hynes

    Mary Hynes moved to Arlington from Minnesota in 1977 and has been a citizen activist and 20-year elected official. As a member of the Arlington County Board from 2008-2015, she chaired the COG Region Forward Coalition and served on the WMATA Board of Directors, the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission, and more. She now sits on the Commonwealth Transportation Board. In her spare time, she plays the standup string bass in a local blues group, Two Blue. 

  • Aaron Lemon-Strauss

    Treasurer

    Aaron Lemon-Strauss is the father of two delightful children, husband of a civil rights lawyer, and employee of a non-profit education organization.  As all will eagerly tell you, his views are very much his own and not meant to represent anyone.

  • Diana Lind

    Diana Lind is the managing director of the University of Pennsylvania Fels Policy Research Initiative. She was executive director and editor in chief of Next City.

  • Abby Lynch

    Abby Lynch is a fundraising professional who works on expanding access to the arts nationwide by day and supporting Greater Greater Washington the rest of the time. She has been reading the blog since she moved into DC in 2008, and has been formally involved with the Board of Directors since 2014. She is a northern Virginia native but now lives in Park View.

  • Dan Malouff

    Editorial Director

    Dan Malouff is a transportation planner for Arlington and professor of geography at George Washington University, but blogs to express personal views. He has a degree in urban planning from the University of Colorado and lives in northeast DC. He runs BeyondDC and contributes to the Washington Post .

  • Emeka Moneme

    Emeka Moneme is Deputy Executive Director of the Federal City Council, a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the improvement of the District of Columbia. He served as Chief Administrative Officer for WMATA, Director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), and as a strategist and consultant. Emeka lives in 16th Street Heights with his wife and four children, rides Metrobus daily, and is an avid fan of Arsenal Football Club.

  • Gerry Widdicombe

    Secretary

    Gerry Widdicombe is an economic development consultant and former director of economic development for the Downtown DC Business Improvement District (BID). In 2013-2014 he headed DC’s Tax Revision Commission. He is Secretary of the Greater Greater Washington board of directors and is also a member of the board of Capital Fringe. Gerry lives in Kalorama Triangle.
