DC Council moves forward with street vending reform

The DC Council has approved a street vending reform bill that would decriminalize vending without a license and make licenses cheaper to obtain. The bill will need to pass a second Council vote and be approved by Mayor Muriel Bowser.  (Brad Matthews / The Washington Times)  

WMATA Board set to approve West Falls Church Metro station mixed-use development

Metro’s Board of Directors will vote on whether to replace several hundred parking spaces and several bus bays at the West Falls Church station with over 1 million square feet of residential, office, and retail space. Maryland elected officials campaign for relocating FBI HQ to Prince George’s County

As the General Services Administration prepares to make a final decision at the end of this month about the relocation of FBI headquarters, Maryland elected officials made one more pitch for a site in Prince George’s County. After developer pulls out, Fairfax County will take the lead on developing Reston Town Center North

WMATA makes progress on electric bus facility redevelopment in Bladensburg

WMATA broke ground on another major bus garage redevelopment in Bladensburg on Wednesday. The facility houses a fifth of the current bus fleet and will be upgraded to support Metrobus’s future all-electric fleet.  (Jordan Pascale / DCist)  

Elrich echoes outrage about landlord’s handling of Silver Spring apartment fire

In a media briefing, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich expressed indignation over the aftermath of last month’s fatal Silver Spring apartment fire. Residents continue facing limited access to their units, and barriers to moving out of the building.
