Rockville considers allowing ADUs
Proponents say allowing accessory dwelling units (ADUs) would help the city address the housing affordability crisis. Opponents argue they could hurt tree canopies and neighborhood character. Developer files to build new missing middle development in Takoma
Douglas Development filed plans to build a four-story residential building consisting exclusively of three-bedroom apartments on Willow Street NW. The roof will be a “butterfly roof design” which can be used to collect rainwater. (UrbanTurf)
New DC Council bill calls for 7,500 public EV chargers to be installed by 2027
All 13 council members signaled support for the Comprehensive Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Access, Readiness, and Sustainability Amendment Act of 2023. DC currently has 250 public charging stations for 5,000 electric vehicles in the city. The bill would require at least four charging stations to be placed in each ward by the end of 2023. GOP applicants to MoCo Planning Board emphasize serving the public over developers
The Montgomery County interviewed Shawn Bartley and David Winstead in an open session Tuesday to fill the Republican seat on the county’s planning board. Both candidates emphasized the need for transparency and service to the public. Democratic and unaffiliated candidates will be interviewed in the coming weeks.
