WMATA explores new fare systems as part of budget optimizations
WMATA’s board met Thursday to discuss fare and service optimizations in order to address budgetary concerns. Most notably, the board explored raising rail fares to address current budgetary issues, as well as the possibility of introducing a new fare structure, such as a zone-based system. MoCo Council appoints interim Planning Board

Apartment building to replace closed motel site in Arlington
Developer JBG Smith has filed plans to build an apartment building at the site of the now-defunct Inn at Rosslyn. The motel will be demolished despite its status as an “important” site on the Arlington Resources Inventory list, keeping in line with recommendations from 2008’s Fort Myer Heights North Plan.
