Maryland state government has budget surplus for second year in a row
The state ends its fiscal year with a $2 billion surplus, with $500 million automatically going into a state-designated rainy-day fund. Another $370 million will automatically go into a fiscal responsibility fund which will provide funding for capital investments in educational facilities statewide and state government employee raises. Construction of transit hub above Ballston Metro station nears end
