The Asberry will start construction in September, aimed at housing seniors
The Barry Farms redevelopment team will start construction in September on The Asberry, a mixed-use, 108-unit senior apartment complex, and commercial center. The complex will be available for former Barry Farm residents aged 55 and older and other seniors making between 30 and 80% of the area median income. Metro safety drill in Ashburn delayed due to rust on tracks
The safety drill was slated to start at 8 am, Wednesday at the Ashburn station and simulate a derailment, but Metro staff found rust on several tracks and shifted to removing it before beginning the drill. Once the system is running normally, the rust will be knocked off by the train wheels, but with the delay in service, rust accumulated naturally. (NBC 4)
Baltimore protest to address homelessness crisis comes to City Hall

Alexandria school zone speed cameras approved
The City of Alexandria has approved funding for five new speed cameras to be placed in school zones in early 2023. The cameras come after a student was fatally struck by a driver near an elementary school in 2017. New health center opening next door to West Hyattsville Metro station
The health center, operated by Kaiser Permanente, is just outside of the gates of the West Hyattsville station and replaces a smaller facility of the health provider serving the Hyattsville community. Metrorail weekend update: No lines without delays, construction work
All line work continues much like last week, with the addition of Green Line single-tracking for Metro’s tunnel rehabilitation project, making those trains run every 15 minutes. The Yellow Line will also continue to only run between Huntington and National Airport stations. (Aja Drain / DCist)
