Traffic safety advocates hold “Blood on Your Hands” rally
Approximately 200 advocates, led by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, brought six safety demands to the steps of the Wilson Building Wednesday night and blocked Pennsylvania Avenue as they dipped their hands in red paint and placed them on the street to represent the “blood on the hands” of the District government. MoCo rents also rising, county council tables rent control measure until September
Montgomery County rents are following trends seen nationwide, with the average rent increase in the county sitting at 14%. The county council chose not to vote Tuesday on a rent control measure to reinstate some of the rent control legislation enacted during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fairfax County bag tax on track to raise $1.2 million in first year

Montgomery County School Board members rejected the charter organization’s application, for what would become the county’s first charter school, for the second time, citing transportation concerns. The organization was rejected for the first time, despite receiving funds from the Maryland State Board of Education, due to overlap in programming with Montgomery County Public Schools. Plans released for a 9:30 Club replica adjacent to its current location in Shaw
The replica, which will be located just behind the existing venue in the former Satellite Room space, will have three stories plus a rooftop and hold 480 people.
