Potomac Gardens residents need more than free Wi-Fi

Montgomery county rent cap expires
Montgomery County’s pandemic rent increase cap expired this weekend. It was most recently capped at 0.4% (before that, landlords could raise rents by 1.4%) and had last been extended in November 2021. Now, renters are allowed 90 days notice before rent increases. (Margaret Barthel / DCist)
Housing developer seeks exemption from DC’s heritage tree law
A developer at Parkside in Ward 7 is seeking an exemption from the new heritage tree legislation, in order to cut down five trees and build 200 apartments, furthering the city’s goal of creating more affordable housing. Trees over 100 inches in circumference can now only be removed if a District arborist says they are hazardous. Otherwise, the developer could pay to have the trees relocated or face fines. Outdoor dining rules in Vienna finalized
The Vienna Town Council voted to simplify the permitting process for outdoor dining and set clear guidelines for operating hours, seating, and other regulations. They also decided to allow outdoor dining within 60 to 75 feet of a residential property under certain conditions, which town staff had previously proposed to prohibit. (Angela Woolsey / FFXnow)
Design notes for affordable housing redevelopment in Alexandria
The Alexandria Redevelopment Housing Authority will need to return to the Board of Architectural Review for a second concept review of a redevelopment project at the Samuel Madden Homes on North Henry Street.
