WABA is partnering with Greater Greater Washington’s policy team to organize a candidate forum for DC Council Chair and Mayor. This event begins at 7 pm, Tuesday, March 29, at MetroBar (640 Rhode Island Ave NE), and will also be live-streamed. Candidates will be asked running questions about some of the pressing transportation issues in Washington, DC! DCist/WAMU reporters Amanda Michelle Gomez and Jordan Pascale will moderate.

Co-sponsors include Black Millennials 4 Flint, Moms Clean Air Force DC Chapter, The Coalition for Smarter Growth, DC Environmental Network, Friends of the DC Streetcar, and Citizens’ Climate Lobby – DC. There will be food trucks and a bar available to purchase food and drinks. Doors open up at 6:00 p.m.

Big budget energy?: Join GGWash for a budget overview and training at 6 pm this Wednesday. DC policy director Alex Baca will review some takeaways from the mayor’s budget (specific to housing and transportation), share with you what GGWash’s policy team will be asking for, and be available to workshop budget requests. DC Council has public meetings on the budget scheduled to begin Monday, (March 21). If you’re planning to make a budget ask as an individual, an ANC, or a representative of an organization, or if you’re just curious about how the District’s budget process works, click here to register for this free event.

Learn more about the DC’s Streetscape guidelines: The National Capital Planning Commission, a federal agency that offers guidance for federal land and buildings in the region, is offering the first of two pubic meetings about the Draft Streetscape Design Guidelines, a document that informs “the placement and characteristics of streetscape elements such as trees, landscapes and plantings, stormwater management, pavement materials, and sidewalks” in DC from 12:30 pm to 1:30 March 23. The Draft Streetscape Design Guidelines are available for public review and comment through May 11, 2022. Click here to register for the meeting and get additional information.

The built environment on film: Watch a slate of short and feature-length films that look at issues like equitable development, the nature of design, historic preservation, and more during the Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) held from 6 - 9:30 pm this Thursday through Saturday at the National Building Museum, 401 F St NW, in DC. Hosted and produced in partnership with The National Buiding Museum, the event will include films, Q&As, and other in-person programming. Costs vary for this event. Click here to register.
