We’ll leave it to you to find your federal results, but we will continue to be your source for local elections. Here’s a rundown of the outcomes.

DC Council

At-large: In a crowded race of 24 candidates, Robert White and Christina Henderson pulled ahead and will be our next At-Large DC Councilmembers. It’s to be determined if the DC Council will take up election reform in the form of ranked-choice voting for a future election.

If you want to learn more about how structural racism may have led us to one of the longest ballots in our recent memory, read Josh Kramer’s piece, “The structural racism that created DC government is still holding us back” in The DC Line.

Ward 2: In a highly contested race, Brooke Pinto, the Democratic party candidate, won (for the second time) the seat vacated by Jack Evans.

Ward 4: Janeese Lewis George, our endorsed candidate, won handily.

Ward 7: In an uncontested race, Vincent C. Gray, also our endorsed candidate, will continue to lead Ward 7.

Ward 8: Trayon White, our endorsed candidate, will continue to lead Ward 8.

State Board of Education

At-large: Jacque Patterson

Ward 2: Allister Chang

Ward 4: Frazier L. O’Leary, Jr.

Ward 7: Eboni-Rose Thompson

Ward 8: Carlene D. Reid

GGWash didn’t endorse in the State Board of Education race, but we thought it was important to the local political landscape.

Advisory Neighborhood Commission

In hundreds of hyperlocal races, many of your neighbors ran to represent you. Here’s who won (and if you don’t know your ANC, visit www.ancfinder.org). You can see who we endorsed in contested races only (see the GGWash-check). We gave stars to some candidates who had good answers to our questionnaire. And notably, not all candidates responded to our questionnaire.

If you’re keeping track, 68% of endorsed candidates won their races, with variable success in each ward. (Click each image to enlarge)

Update: This article was updated Monday November 23, 2020 to reflect that Chioma J. Iwuoha won the ANC race in 7B01.
