Several of Baltimore’s mayoral candidates will be on hand Wednesday, February 26 to discuss how to transform the city’s transportation problems. Speakers include Sheila Dixon, Mary Miller, Brandon Scott, Thiru Vignarajah, and Mary Washington.

The event is hosted by Bikemore in Action, in partnership with The Real News Network, Central Maryland Transportation Alliance, Baltimore Transit Equity Coalition, and transportation advocacy organizations, and transit riders and operators.

The discussion begins at 6 pm at the Real News Network, 231 Holliday Street, Baltimore, Maryland. The event is free but registration is required.

Join the discussion about housing in America: New York Times reporter Conor Dougherty will discuss his new book “Golden Gates: Fighting for Housing in America” from 7 to 8 pm, Monday, February 24 at Politics and Prose at the Wharf, 70 District Square SW. Then, at 8 pm, take the conversation over to Kirwan’s on the Wharf, 749 Wharf St SW, for a happy hour after the book talk.

Come help Montgomery County “Thrive”: Come see what Montgomery County is doing to make the area better for residents by 2050. “Thrive Montgomery 2050 is the update to the county’s General Plan, which will set Montgomery Planning goals and work program for the next 30 years.” Join the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board as they unpack key issues in Montgomery County. The meeting is from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Monday at the Silver Spring Civic Building, 1 Veteran’s Place, in Silver Spring, Maryland. This event is free and open to the public.

How are immigration policies affecting DC students and families?: Join in the conversation as WAMU 88.5 presents its first 2020 Kojo In Your Community event. Kojo Nnamdi, host of The Kojo Nnamdi Show and The Politics Hour will host a panel discussion on “the impacts of shifting immigration policies on students and families in Washington, DC.​​​” The event begins at 6 pm at 6:00 pm at Columbia Heights Educational Campus (Bell/Lincoln), 3101 16th Street NW. The cost of the event is $10 and participants must register.
