C&O Canal in Georgetown by Samir Luther licensed under Creative Commons.

The Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Canal in Georgetown could get repairs and updates to celebrate its historic past and to make it more accessible. The National Park Service (NPS) is holding a public meeting this Thursday to discuss its plans for the project.

Proposals include repair and rehabilitation projects to address deferred maintenance and additional improvements for a one-mile section of the C&O that runs through Georgetown, according to an NPS press release. These improvements would “enhance education, interpretation and visitor experiences for those who live, work and visit the park.”

The meeting runs from 7 to 8 pm on Thursday, November 7 in the Canal Overlook Room at 3276 M Street NW. This event is free and open to the public. PS: There is time to go to this event and our mixer as well.
