Are UberPool and Lyft Line bad for traffic?
Services like UberPool and Lyft Line create about 2.6 miles of car travel per mile of passenger travel, according to a new study. That's scarcely better than the 2.8 miles for non-shared services, suggesting neither kind of ride-hailing service is improving congestion. Of course, single-passenger cars still make up most of the traffic (Faiz Siddiqui / Post)
Mobike leaves DC
Mobike follows fellow Chinese dockless bikeshare company ofo in pulling out of DC. Mobike officials say DC's cap of 400 bikes per company made it unprofitable to continue operating. (Though ofo, at least, is pulling out of other markets, too). (Jordan Pascale / WAMU)
Survey gives scooters a passing grade
72% of DC residents have a positive view on e-scooters, a survey found, putting it at the midpoint for the 10 US cities surveyed thus far. Support is highest in Atlanta, lowest in San Francisco. (Rachel Kurzius / DCist)
Federal Realty is mad about White Flint
Federal Realty, the developers of Pike and Rose at White Flint, feel Montgomery County has not moved fast enough to build more of a street grid and civic commons space as promised. The company is even saying they might move jobs out of the county. (Bethany Rodgers / Bethesda Beat)

Two more stations close this weekend
On top of the ongoing closure of Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland, WMATA will close Takoma and the Red Line section of Fort Totten this weekend for additional track work. (Natalie Delgadillo / DCist)
When Metro heats up, don’t blame the operator
With temperatures hitting triple digits, it can get a bit toasty inside a Metro car. But don't take it out on the operator. WMATA trains (along with other cities like San Francisco and New York) run on an automated cooling system, out of the operator's control. (Kerry Murakami / Post)
Roads to beat the heat
Painting roads white, plastic bridges, and even removing pavement are some ways states and cities across the US are trying to keep roads cooler and save money. (Andrew Soergel / USNews)
