Maryland Avenue moves
DDOT is moving forward with plans to make a dangerous stretch of Maryland Avenue, NE safer. The plans, slated for construction in 2017, include fewer travel lanes, new bike lanes, and pedestrian islands. (TheWashCycle)
Don’t demolish homes
Virginia homeowners voiced their concerns about plans to widen I-66, worried that residential and school property could be taken to make way for more lanes. VDOT is developing plans to reduce property impacts. (WAMU)
No more moratorium
The Rockville City Council upped the threshhold for stopping new development in areas with over-capacity schools to match the Montgomery County 120% over-capacity rule and to keep development plans moving. (Bethesda Beat)
Frack no
A Maryland bill temporarily banning fracking is now the law after Governor Hogan decided not to veto it. The law places a 2.5 year moratorium on fracking and requires the state to craft environmental standards in the meantime. (TheHill)
