Want to put what you’ve learned on Greater Greater Washington into real-world practice? Have 12 hours a week to do some work for the DC Council (but without getting paid)?

The Committee on Public Works and Transportation, chaired by Councilmember Jim Graham, is looking for an unpaid intern or volunteer to help conduct policy analysis, do legal research, and support the legislative process on District transportation issues.

This Committee has legislative and budget oversight over Metro-WMATA, the District Department of Transportation, and several other agencies.

We need someone who can commit at least 12 hours per week. Work location is flexible, though it would be necessary to come to the Wilson Building at 1350 Pennsylvania Ave for meetings.

This position would be ideal for graduate students looking for substantive experience in local transportation policy and planning.

If you are interested, please send a resume and a paragraph explaining your interest to Jonathon Kass, jkass@dccouncil.us.

You not only get to dig into important policies, you get to work with the terrific Jonathon Kass, one of DC’s best and most important advocates for good transportation policy. You can assist someone who shares your goals and focus on the policy issues of transportation instead of dealing with the politics.
