Greater Greater Washington will host its next live guest, Chris Zimmerman, Friday at 1:00 pm.

Zimmerman is a member of the Arlington County Board, the WMATA Board of Directors, the Transportation Planning Board for the National Capital Region, the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority and the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission. He is the current Chairman on the Virginia Railway Express Operations Board. He’s also the first local politician to guest post on Greater Greater Washington.

This chat will focus on Metro budget issues, including the effort to close a projected $175M gap between anticipated available funds and expenses. In a presentation earlier this month, Metro staff proposed closing the gap using a combination of fare increases, service reductions, other cost reductions, and deferring capital spending.

This past spring, Mr. Zimmerman also joined us for a chat during the last round of budget debates.

Please tune in live on Friday at 1 pm when Mr. Zimmerman will take your questions. Feel free to leave your questions in the comments and we’ll select some for the discussion.

Michael Perkins blogs about Metro operations and fares, performance parking, and any other government and economics information he finds on the Web. He lives with his wife and two children in Arlington, Virginia.
