Arlington chair says keep Tregoning and Klein
Arlington County Board chairman Jay Fisette encouraged Vince Gray to keep Gabe Klein and Harriet Tregoning, saying, “they’re regional, not insular or parochial,” and “I can’t imagine having better folks in those jobs than they do now.” We completely agree. Keep reading…

Does Fenty believe enough in our issues? Does it matter?
Adrian Fenty has aggressively reformed education, made the city more walkable and bikeable, added housing, attacked crime and more. He’s hired some great people (and some not so great people). Does he deserve reelection on that basis? One nagging thought in my mind is whether the Mayor’s support for Smart Growth or sustainable transportation is really heartfelt… Keep reading…

Certainly Adrian Fenty has his problems, but at the same time he’s pushed hard for streetcars, bike lanes, and more housing (though not always affordable housing), and turned over planning and transportation to two excellent… Keep reading…

National Capital Planning Commission Vice-Chair Rob Miller, who works for Vincent Gray, NCPC member and DC Planning Director Harriet Tregoning, and DDOT Director Gabe Klein sent strong letters to NCPC Chairman Preston Bryant objecting to his sudden attempt to block an FTA grant for DC streetcars. The letters make a number of important points. The FTA grant itself would pay… Keep reading…

Where’s Michael? DC needs active WMATA Board members
At this morning’s meeting of the WMATA Board Committee on Customer Service, Operations and Safety, DC Councilmember Jim Graham raised a procedural concern about voting that stemmed from the absence of alternate Board member and at-large Councilmember Michael Brown. Under the committee’s rules, other members from the jurisdiction (such as Graham) were not… Keep reading…
