Ralph Northam’s recent budget allocation of $50 million to extend intercity passenger rail service from Roanoke to the New River Valley is just the latest in a long line of sizable investments his administration has made into the future of rail in the commonwealth, including a $3.7 billion dollar track acquisition deal with CSX and the launch of the Long Bridge project. Virginia’s big buy-in on rail could transform regional mobility

Metro Reasons: VRE plans to revamp the Alexandria station without a new pedestrian tunnel
The tunnel which would have connected the Alexandria Virginia Railway Express station with the King Street Metrorail station has been put on hold, according to Virginia Railway Express and Northern Virginia Transportation Authority documents. Hi folks: I've got this curiosity that I wanted to run by you and see if anyone could shed light on it. I recently moved to Takoma, from Capitol Hill. In this part of the Red Line, Metro shares a right-of-way with CSX's Metropolitan Subdivision, formerly B&O's Metropolitan Branch.
