The partially-finished Anacostia Riverwalk Trail runs along both sides of the river, giving people walking, scooting, skating, and bicycling a safe path to travel along the water. A new segment of the Anacostia River Trail takes a long route through the Kenilworth area. A second segment will go straight up the river, but work on it can’t start until the National Park Service cleans up the land, where illegal dumping was once allowed. A new bikeway along Virginia Ave SE will connect the Anacostia to Capitol Hill
CSX is rebuilding the railroad tunnel under Virginia Avenue SE, which means tearing up and rebuilding the streetscape.
