Here are the answers to whichWMATA week 149

On Tuesday, we featured the 149th challenge to see how well you know the Metro system. Here are the answers. How’d you do?

This week, we got 15 guesses. Thirteen of you got all five. Great work everyone!

All the photos this week showed a Metro station viewed with a portion of a Capital Bikeshare station in the shot.

Image 1: Bethesda

The first image shows the Bikeshare kiosk at Bethesda’s street-level escalator/stair entrance. The Clark building at Bethesda Metro Center is easily recognizable.

All 15 of you knew this one.

Image 2: Metro Center

The second image shows a view of the 12th & G entrance to Metro Center station. The downtown Macy’s is visible in the background.

All 15 of you got this one right.

Image 3: Rockville

The third image shows the station end of the bridge linking Rockville Metro to the Rockville government center area. The bridge is similar to other bridges constructed in that era, like the ones on the Vienna end of the Orange Line, but this bridge has a distinctive curve, and the structure where it “lands” at Rockville station is also unique.

All 15 of you figured this one out.

Image 4: Eastern Market

The fourth image shows a bikeshare dock in the plaza outside Eastern Market station. This one turned out to be the toughest, but the low-rise nature of the area, and the plaza itself should have helped you figure it out.

Thireen of you guessed correctly.

Image 5: Virginia Square

The final image shows the bikeshare station outside Virginia Square. A very close inspection of the photo will reveal a white street sign with black text (in the distance, just to the left of the handlebars), which indicates that this is a station in Arlington. While most of the region (and the United States) uses green signs with white text to indicate street names, Arlington uses black text on white. The orientation of the entrance and the surrounding buildings should have helped you to zero in on this.

All 15 of you came to the correct conclusion.

Great work, everyone. Thanks for playing! We’ll be back in two weeks with challenge #149.
