Virginia is closing a loophole that has enabled Marylanders to register their cars in Virginia and avoid buying car insurance
A title and registration loophole in Virginia has long enabled Maryland residents to register their cars in Virginia and pay a fee rather than purchase auto insurance. On July 1, that loophole will close as Virginia begins requiring auto insurance. This will likely incentivize more Maryland drivers to register their vehicles in Maryland, generating revenue for the state’s transportation budget and making it easier to enforce dangerous driving. Virginia House committee quickly approves bill to relocate Caps, Wizards
The Virginia House Appropriations Committee overwhelmingly voted in favor of a bill to bring the Washington Capitals and Wizards to Potomac Yard during a short hearing. However, senior Democrats on the committee said their vote in favor of the bill was intended to keep negotiations moving along, as the bill is being used as a bargaining chip for other legislative priorities. Manor Park apartment building plans back, but without cidery
