Neighborhood association pushes for moratorium on new liquor licenses in Shaw
The Westminster Neighborhood Association in Shaw is calling for DC’s Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Board to impose a moratorium on new liquor licenses along 9th Street NW because they believe nightlight is contributing to a rise in “property and violent crime.” Nightlife establishments say this approach would harm small businesses rather than impact public safety. Construction of senior-friendly housing in Tysons underway
Construction continues on a 15-story, 181-unit apartment building in Tysons that’s intended for older adults. The building expected to welcome residents in the summer of 2024. MTA bus driver fatally strikes scooter rider in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor
A Maryland Transportation Administration (MTA) Bus driver struck a person on a scooter just after 6:00 pm Sunday evening. The bus driver crashed into a telephone poll and the sidewalk after striking the scooter rider at the corner of Pratt and Light Streets in Downtown Baltimore. The scooter rider died at the scene.
