Talk upzoning on U Street at GGWash’s July Ward 1.5 meet-up: GGWash hosts monthly Ward 1.5 meet-ups at Grand Duchess in Adams Morgan. Join this month’s meetup on the 16th from 3 - 5 pm to meet others who want to see more affordable housing, fewer trips by car, and the land-use regulations necessary to support the above—plus, hear what GGWash is working on, particularly in northwest DC, and what you can do to get involved.

This month, we’ll give some updates on the 1617 U Street upzoning (ZC 23-02). Although these conversations will focus mainly on Wards 1 and 2, anyone interested in civic engagement should feel free to attend. This event is organized and planned by GGWash volunteers. Learn more & RSVP here.

Tuesday, July 18:

Learn what’s next for the MBT: Construction on the long-awaited Fort Totten to Takoma section of the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT) is scheduled to commence this summer. Upon completion, the entire MBT will run 8 miles from Union Station in the District to Silver Spring in Maryland. The addition of the Fort Totten to Takoma section will serve as an important transportation route that connects homes, work, and play in those areas to other areas of the region.

Karly Meyer was an Engagement Fellow at Greater Greater Washington. She was a student at George Washington University majoring in Public Health with minors in Sustainability and Biology. Karly discovered her interests in urban planning and active transportation while studying sustainable development in Copenhagen, Denmark. She grew up in Exeter, New Hampshire and used to live in Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC.

Jacy Heidorn was an Engagement Fellow at GGWash. She grew up in Alstead, New Hampshire before moving to Foggy Bottom in Washington, D.C. to attend undergrad at George Washington University. She graduated with a BA in Geography and is interested in working in fields that tie together urban land use and transportation planning with environmental and public health.
