Learn about three Neighborhood Complete Streets projects in Arlington: The Neighborhood Complete Streets (NCS) program was established by the Arlington County Board in January 2016 to address safety and access problems on local (non-arterial) streets through physical improvement projects. Currently, the NCS project team is considering three different projects in Arlington.

Share your input on the preliminary concept plans for the Flower Avenue Separated Bike Lanes Project in Silver Spring: The primary purpose of the Flower Avenue Separated Bike Lanes project is to improve bicyclist and pedestrian safety and comfort in the corridor. The main component of the project will be separated bike lanes along Flower Avenue from Piney Branch Road (MD 320) to Arliss Street – approximately 0.2 miles. The project will also include streetscape improvements for pedestrian/ADA access, transit access, roadway/pavement, parking, drainage, stormwater management, traffic signals, signing and marking, plantings, and lighting.

Wednesday, May 10:

Provide feedback on how the city of Alexandria can increase its stock of safe, affordable housing: Safe and affordable housing is still a challenge for many Alexandrians due to a lack of supply and the institutional barriers to equitable access. The City of Alexandria is bundling efforts to address the housing crisis by combining two initiatives: Zoning for Housing, and Housing for All. The Zoning for Housing program aims to expand housing production and affordability through reforming City regulations, while the Housing for All program will help Alexandrians learn the history of past discriminatory housing policies and how these can be countered today.

Learn and discuss how “Cycling is for Everyone”: Join the National Landing BID at Alamo Drafthouse for a screening of the inspirational documentary Chasing History: The St. Augustine Cycling Team, the first cycling team at a historically Black college or university. The 30-minute documentary highlights the formation of the team and their first race. Celebrate the completed Mount Vernon Memorial Highway Trail project: The Mount Vernon Memorial Highway Trail project completes missing segments for several trails and provides a continuous facility for pedestrians and cyclists along the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway from Route 1 to the Mount Vernon Estates. The project constructed a 6,400 foot long, 10-foot wide shared use path which includes a pedestrian bridge adjacent to the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway bridge.
