Friends of the DC Streetcar (FODS) is hosting and sponsoring a neutral zoom candidate forum this Wednesday, October 12, at 6:30 pm for the at-large council race. Friends of the DC Streetcar is a Ward 7-led and Ward 7-based community organization that does education, outreach, and advocacy for the DC Streetcar and transportation equity.

FODS’ mission is guided by the 37-mile streetcar network developed by several mayors including Mayor Barry, Mayor Williams, Mayor Fenty, and Mayor Gray. The original 37-mile streetcar proposal included lines in many areas ranging from Petworth to Anacostia to Georgetown. Learn more and register here.

Weigh in on plans to improve bus, pedestrian, and cyclist access on US-29: Join the Montogomery County DOT on Thursday, October 13 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Pine Crest Elementary School for a public meeting to discuss the results of the US 29 Mobility and Reliability Study to improve mobility along the US 29 corridor. The conversation will cover planned improvements to accommodate the new Flash bus service, as well as pedestrian and bicycle access and safety for the stations between the Silver Spring Transit Center and Tech Road. Ride the Rockville Bike Beltway: Join the Rockville Bicycle Advisory Committee at 10 am on Sunday, October 16 to ride the Carl Henn Millennium Trail with your family and friends, or come and make new ones! Tour the new City Ridge Development with CSG: On Monday evening from 5:30 - 8:30 pm, join The Coalition for Smarter Growth (CSG), Ward3Vision, Cleveland Park Smart Growth, and other local smart growth advocates for a walking tour of the new 10-acre City Ridge project on Wisconsin Avenue at the former Fannie Mae headquarters site.
