Station reopenings come with promise of 20 more 7000-series trains and more weekend service
In addition to today’s reopening of service at five Orange line stations in Maryland and DC, 20 more 7000-series trains will run starting next week and up to four-minute headways are promised by the agency where the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines are combined and 15-minute headways on the single lines. Arlington has yet to pay $23 million promised to Amazon
Arlington had offered up at least $23 million in incentives to Amazon to move to the county in 2018, however, due to the pandemic and other county revenue streams drying up, the payout hasn’t happened. Memorial ride held for Bethesda cyclist killed by driver in bike lane
A memorial bike ride and placement of the white memorial “ghost” bike for Sarah Langenkamp was held on Sunday. Riders rode to the crash site near Little Falls Parkway and placed the bike there. Langenkamp was fatally struck by a driver in a flatbed truck who veered into the designated bike lane in which she was riding on August 25. (Darcy Spencer / NBC 4)
West Baltimore neighborhoods under boil water advisory
Parts of West Baltimore are under a boil water advisory after E. coli samples were detected in routine water tests Sunday. The samples were detected in a fire station, police station, and another location, with the most concern on the Sandtown-Winchester and Harlem Park neighborhoods. Westernmost I-66 Express Lanes to open on or around September 10th
The Virginia Department of Transportation announced Friday that the I-66 Express Lanes from Route 29 in Gainesville to Route 28 in Centerville will open nine months ahead of schedule. This is in addition to their prior announcement of the lanes opening from Route 28 to the 495 interchanges, which is still scheduled for December along with continued work on the remainder of the transportation improvements in the corridor through 2023. Capitol Hill neighborhood market saved by crowdfunding
The market, most recently known as Mott’s Market at 233 12th Street NE, attracted investors of all ages, income levels, professions, and residences. The investors cited allowing that corner of Capitol Hill to remain walkable as one of their main motivations. (Mike Murillo / WTOP)
