Incumbents successfully defend seats in DC Democratic primary
Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC Council Chair Phil Mendelson, at-large Councilmember Anita Bonds, and Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau held their seats in last night’s primary election. Meanwhile, Zachary Parker won the Ward 5 seat, Matthew Frumin won the Ward 3 seat after Eric Goulet conceded, and Brian Schwab won Attorney General. (DCist)
Arlington County funds new pedestrian infrastructure in four neighborhoods
The $1.7 million improvements will entail constructing new accessible sidewalks, transit stops, intersections, pedestrian crossings, and bicycle tracks at various locations such as S. Belle Haven may receive floodwall and levee in preparation for future flooding

Lorton Landfill gains first approval to become a park
Called Overlook Ridge Park, it will feature hiking trails, an amphitheater, bird sanctuaries, picnic areas, and other amenities. It will also have the highest point in Fairfax County.
