Metro to pause Yellow Line between Pentagon and L’Enfant for repairs this fall
Metro’s Yellow Line will pause service between the Pentagon and L’Enfant Plaza stations for eight months starting in September in order for crews to complete safety repairs, including preventing water intrusion of the tunnel between those stations. A six-week closure of Yellow Line service south of the National Aiport station is also expected in September, all in addition to the summer closure of five Orange Line stations. Piscataway Conoy Tribe pushes to rename Indian Head Highway
Members of the Piscataway Conoy Tribe are asking Prince George’s County to change the name of Indian Head Highway because it is derogatory toward Native Americans. Metro board won’t reappoint IG
Metro’s board will not reappoint Inspector General Geoff Cherrington when his five-year term is up in April, opting instead to appoint his deputy, Rene Febles. Cherrington has uncovered multiple issues in investigations and audits of Metro. It’s not clear why the board is opting not to reappoint him. Alexandria may charge businesses for parklets
Alexandria is considering charging businesses rent to use parking spaces for outdoor dining, shopping, and other uses. Driver kills pedestrian in apparent hit-and-run in Adams Morgan/Dupont area
