Building a better bike network that’s safe and accessible for all doesn’t have to be hard, especially if it’s an organized effort. To that end, WABA is hosting an information session on how to create and execute a “vision for a citywide low-stress bike network.”

The discussion, which is scheduled for 7 pm Monday, August 16, will go over strategies for supporting biking and walking improvements on specific streets, what makes a successful campaign, and then breaks the conversation down into wards and groups. Click here to register for this event.

What makes good public policy?: Free the Facts, a nonpartisan organization that provides young people with information on economic and fiscal policies and programs, is hosting a conversation with Dr. Risha Gidwani, a senior policy researcher at the RAND Corporation, and an adjunct associate professor at UCLA’s School of Public Health to discuss “how experts evaluate the quality of a public policy.” This event will be from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday, August 11, and is free to the public. How emerging modes of transportation could change our lives: Join the Eno Center for Transportation as they host a conversation with Todd Litman, author of the new book New Mobilities: Smart Planning for Emerging Transportation Technologies to discuss “12 emerging transportation modes and services that will likely significantly affect our lives as they become more commonplace.”Litman will talk about modes and services, including bike and car sharing, micro-transit, and electric vehicles, and how they impact travel activity, costs and affordability, infrastructure design and cost, and more. Sing a song for everyone: Planet Word Museum is hosting an event where signers from DC, Brazil, and Berlin participants how to sign songs in different languages and understand how things like rhythm and melody are translated.
