Last year Greater Greater Washington published 1,205 posts written by 160 volunteers. This would not have been possible without financial support from readers like you. Thank you!

Will you help keep the posts coming by contributing to our reader drive today?

Donate Now!

Today kicks off our annual reader drive. We need to raise $30,000 during this year's drive to ensure that GGWash can continue to publish reliable, daily posts about the issues you care about.

Below is an explanation for how we'll put your donations to work. You can see our 2016 financial information here.

You'll help publish posts

Each post costs about $62 to produce. Even though volunteers contribute more than 90% of the posts you read, it costs money to get them on the blog. From server and hosting expenses to paying our staff editor, publishing posts —even those written by volunteers —costs money!

You'll help host blogging workshops

Did you know GGWash offers free, transit-accessible blogging workshops across the region? These educational sessions teach people how to use blogging to make their voice heard. Staff time to plan and carry out the workshops, travel costs, and materials add up.

Last year, 82 people attended one of the six workshops GGWash hosted; several participants have become regular contributors as a result! Each workshop costs an average of around $350. Your donation can help new bloggers improve their skills and lend their voice to GGWash.

You'll help identify urbanist candidates for office

Want to know which candidates at the state, local, and hyper-local level will support our vision for a greater Washington region? GGWash does the research for you and endorses candidates who will stand up for transit, bike infrastructure, and enough housing for our region's current and future residents.

Last year, GGWash led a massive effort to educate DC voters about Area Neighborhood Commissioner candidates. Between developing a tailored survey for each ward of DC and analyzing hundreds of responses, staff put in dozens of hours on this effort. Ultimately, we made 50 ANC endorsements, adding up to about $93 a pop. Local politics matters and your donation today will help us identify and support strong urbanist candidates in the future.

Please kick off the reader drive by making your donation today!

You can make the next post possible by donating $62! Maybe you can pay for our next blogging workshop with a donation of $350? Whether you can give $5 or $500 to support GGWash, every contribution matters. If a smaller, monthly contribution of $5, $15, or $25 is more your speed, just click the “make this donation recurring” button below!

Thank you for your support!
