Learn about and share opinions on designs for transit along Route 7, trails in Prince George’s, and DC’s railways and cross-town travel options. Get to know Kennedy Street, check out transit trivia, and mark your calendar for a blogging workshop with Greater Greater Washington!

Transit on Route 7: It looks like bus rapid transit is Fairfax’s choice for transit along Route 7. Head to one of three public meetings over the next two weeks to learn about the proposed route, and to share your thoughts. The first meeting is, Monday, June 6, at 5708 Merton Court in Alexandria. The second meeting is on Wednesday, June 8, at 5829 Glen Forest Drive in Falls Church, and the third meeting is next Tuesday, June 14, at 7130 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church. All meetings start at 7 pm.

Prince George’s trails: Prince George’s County wants to expand its park trail system. Share your thoughts on improving accessibility, connectivity, and trail maintenance at a public meeting this Tuesday, June 7, at 6:30 pm at 6600 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale. This is a makeup meeting for the May 25th one that was cancelled.

Transit trivia: Do you like transit and trivia? Head over to a trivia night to see just how wonky your transit knowledge is. It’s this Tuesday, June 7, at RFD Washington (810 7th Street NW) at 6:30 pm, and hosted by the Eno Center for Transportation and Young Professionals in Transportation. There will be light appetizers, and prizes will go to teams with the best names.

DC’s rail plan: The District’s comprehensive plan for managing a rail system that includes CSX, VRE, MARC, Amtrak, and Norfolk Southern is on its way. Head over to the second and final public meeting this Tuesday, June 7, at 6 pm at 225 7th Street SE to share your thoughts on the vision for the future of DC’s rail infrastructure.

Memorials of the future: What will be the next memorial in DC? The National Capital Planning Commission will announce three finalists for Memorials of the Future, a competition to find new approaches and designs for memorials, this Wednesday, June 8, at 7 pm. Head over to 700 Pennsylvania Ave NW to see the designs and hear a panel talk about the possibilities for a next generation of memorials.

East-west travel in DC: DC’s Department of Transportation recently released new ideas about how to travel between Wards 1 and 5 by bus, bike, and foot. Hear about them and share your opinions on the project at the third meeting this Thursday, June 9, from 6 pm to 8 pm at 125 Michigan Avenue NE. You can also take part in a public engagement on Saturday, June 11, from 10 am to 12 pm in two locations, 716 Monroe St NE and 3030 14th St NW.

Kennedy Street walking tour: Kennedy Street NW, a historically vibrant commercial area, is seeing better street design, new local businesses, and a strong, engaged community. Hear about these changes and more at the Coalition for Smarter Growth’s final spring walking tour this Saturday, June 11, from 10 am to 12 pm. RSVP for details.
