The first case against the officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore has ended in mistrial. After three days of deliberation with no verdict, the judge declared a hung jury. (Post)

Collisions at the “Intersection of Doom” in Rosslyn are way down. A simple change in traffic signal timing has knocked the intersection all the way out of Arlington’s top 25 intersections for collisions. (ARLnow)

No relief on the Greenway
VDOT wanted to buy the privately-owned Dulles Greenway toll road so that they could lower tolls, but after running the numbers they decided that it’s just too expensive. (WTOP)
Devising density for Brentwood
In Brentwood, a big development project to add over 1700 housing units, with at least 380 planned as affordable housing, is finally moving forward. The project will replace a low-density housing complex and an auto-centric shopping center. (WBJ)
DC stepping up on schools
As charter schools grow to nearly half of all DC public school enrollment, it’s getting harder to navigate the disjointed public school system. So DC has put together a task force to focus on improving coordination between the charter and traditional public schools. (Post)
McAuliffe on education
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe wants to add $1 billion to state funding for public education. The money would go in part toward raising teacher salaries and would enable every public school to hire an additional teacher. (Post)
