LA is about to strike a deal with the USOC to be the sole candidate city for the Olympics. The deal will go through once the city council votes on it. LA residents are in favor of bringing the Olympics to their city. (NBC4)
Katrina reactions
When Katrina evacuees moved to new communities, the communities changed. Houston residents feared the newcomers would bring crime while Baton Rouge residents were less supportive of public benefits for the poor. These attitudes may have come from news reports in those two communities. (Post)
The decider
Columbia, MO created a very gerrymandered district. It was supposed to have no voters in it so the property owners could decide on a tax but one voter remains. Now she has the single deciding vote. (The Week)
