Breakfast links: Get more
We all scream for I Street
DDOT will add a bike lane to I Street, SW, effectively narrowing an excessively-wide one-lane street where drivers routinely speed. They will also add a short median in front of the elementary school. (SWDCBlog)
SmarterBike
DDOT has confirmed plans to expand SmartBike this year to 50 stations. The new stations will expand the neighborhoods with access to the program, including “Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, Capitol Hill, Anacostia and Georgetown.” The article also alludes to some developments with Arlington about better coordinating the two systems. Save the trust fund!
The Chamber of Commerce calls on the MoCo and PG delegations to unite to keep the Transportation Trust Fund healthy. This is critical for getting federal support for the Purple Line and CCT. Not to beat a dead horse, but the transportation trust fund would be fine if the state hadn’t already mortgaged it for the ICC. (Maryland Politics Watch)
One for all and all for one
It’s not immediately obvious, but today’s Breakfast Links is substantially different under the hood. Instead of being one regular post, it’s several: one main post, and one for each link. If you click on one of the tags, the tag page will just show the relevant link(s). When you comment, things should be the same, but you’ll see a drop-down box asking you which link you are commenting on. That’ll associate your comment with the individual link, so it can show up on the overall Breakfast Links post and on that individual link as well.
Everything should work smoothly. You should be able to comment anywhere and have that comment appear. The subscriptions to get emailed followup comments should also work as you’d expect, with nothing obviously changing from now. If you encounter any weird or unexpected behavior, and especially if you get any error messages, please email right away to let me know.
