Events: How federal funds could be repurposed to make local streets work better for all users

In the US, nearly half of all car trips people take are less than three miles, and most take place on local streets. So why does so much federal funding go for things like highways? For cities to “build projects that offer climate, mobility, and equity benefits on a large scale,” federal transportation funding and policy may need to change.
