Tonight is the Montgomery County panel on blogging and its impact on planning, with Greater Greater Washington contributors Dan Reed and David Alpert along with Eric Robbins (Thayer Avenue), Cindy Cotte Griffiths (Rockville Central), and Barnaby Zall (Friends of White Flint). It’s at 7:30 pm at 8787 Georgia Avenue in Downtown Silver Spring.

Note that the Red Line has another cracked rail, so trains are going 35mph between Takoma and Silver Spring. Leave a little extra time.

Count pedestrians for CAPA

Connecticut Avenue Pedestrian Action is looking for volunteers to count pedestrian volumes for their audit of pedestrian conditions on Connecticut Avenue from Woodley Park to Chevy Chase. You would attend one of two 2-hour training sessions, on Sunday 4/25 or Saturday 5/1, then do 4 hours of counting during the following week “at your convenience.” Sign up here.

Learn about streetcar technology

We debated streetcar technology but still don’t have all the details. Streetcar supporters are therefore organizing a technology seminar on May 6th, 5-7 pm at the Renaissance Hotel. And before that, on April 20th, DDOT will update the community on streetcar plans right near the proposed H Street line. Virginians aren’t left out, either: there’s a Northern Virginia Streetcar Coalition meeting on April 22, 7 pm at the Hilton Mark Center.
