Church files plan to build 65-unit all-affordable housing near U Street corridor
Beacon Communities and the Christian Tabernacle Church of God plan to construct a seven-story, 65-unit, all-affordable development next to the church located at 2033 11th Street NW. The plans include a child development center and a community plaza. Unit options would range from studios to three bedrooms. (UrbanTurf)
Arlington gets $1 million in federal funding for electric school buses
Arlington will use the money to buy five all-electric vehicles, including three large and two small school buses. They will take up to 15 months to be delivered after they are purchased. About 94,000 vehicles in Washington region likely have recalled airbags
Many of the cars with defective Takata airbags are models from 2002 and 2006 and are on their second or third owners, so it’s difficult for the manufacturers to track down the owners and notify them of the needed change. MoCo Parks to host June 18 public meeting on parking-lot-to-park conversion
The plan calls for the conversion of two county parking lots into the future Bethesda Market Park with an underground parking garage. The Montgomery County Planning Board approved sketch plans for the park in 2019 and construction of the underground garage and park may take a minimum of four years to be completed. Chinatown street light outages persist with no timeline for repairs
Over 60 street lights have been out in and around Chinatown over the past month, including near the Capital One Arena, the National Archives, and the courthouses. According to the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), some of those lights are maintained by the National Park Service instead of DC, but DDOT will direct contractors to fix the ones under its purview. Driver kills pedestrian in Takoma Park in a hit-and-run
