Arlington County Board candidates debate Missing Middle
Missing Middle was a prominent topic at a candidate forum for the Arlington County Board elections. Tenley Peterson and JD Spain voiced support for Missing Middle, while Natalie Roy, James DeVita, Julie Farnam, and Audrey Clement criticized or opposed the policy. Senate approves additional long-haul flights at DCA despite safety concerns
On Thursday, May 9, the US Senate passed the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act which, among many other things, would add ten roundtrip, long-haul flights to National Airport. All senators from Maryland and Virginia voted against the measure, citing safety concerns from overburdening the busiest runway in America. Notably, the bill doesn’t include a provision to transfer control of the RFK Stadium site to the District, which Mayor Bowser requested be attached to the reauthorization. Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approves McLean redevelopment
On Tuesday, May 7, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a commercial developer’s request to replace six townhomes with a five-story, 101-unit condo building in McLean. Dozens of vintage, modern planes to fly over the National Mall this weekend
On Saturday, May 11, from 12 to 1 PM, pilots will fly more than 50 vintage and modern aircraft will fly over the National Mall. They will fly at about 1,000 feet at around 106 miles per hour. (Jessica Ruf / Washingtonian)
