DC issues request for proposals to redevelop Chevy Chase library and community center to include housing
On Wednesday, DC issued a request for proposals to developers for a “world-class library and community center” including as much housing as possible, with at least 30 percent of the units affordable at 30-80% of Area Median Income. For the first time in 25 years, the Washington region has a joint fair housing plan
Eight jurisdictions across DC, Maryland, and Virginia worked with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) on a regional fair housing plan that has now been submitted to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. It marks the first time in a quarter-century that the region has worked together on such a plan, intended to decrease discriminatory barriers to accessing safe and affordable housing. New Montgomery County bill would allow houses of worship, private schools to build housing on their non-residential land

Alexandria seeks funding for on-board information screens and cameras on DASH buses
Alexandria has applied for a $200,000 grant from the state to fund a pilot program that would install information screens on up to 10 DASH buses. “Our Lady of Exxon” skywalk coming down as part of shift toward walkability in Rosslyn
Pedestrian skywalks in Rosslyn are a relic of the neighborhood’s once car-centric design. Arlington County will demolish one of the last remaining skywalks this summer, over N. Nash Street near the property nicknamed “Our Lady of Exxon.” This is the next step in evolving the 18th Street Corridor to be more pedestrian-centered and walkable at the street level.
