Our outstanding editor, George Kevin Jordan, is moving on from Greater Greater Washington at the end of 2022. We’re looking for someone to take over from George and run the day-to-day GGWash publication, which includes editing articles, managing freelancers and volunteer writers, and helping us realize our mission for GGWash. Could that be you, or someone you know?

George has been with GGWash since 2019, during which time he’s contributed a strong, mission-driven storytelling and journalistic lens to our publication and shaped the vision for what it can do for the region. He steered the publication ship through the stormy seas of the Covid-19 pandemic. He brought a variety of new voices to the chorus of writers discussing housing, transportation, and land use, and spearheaded multiple ambitious multi-part series on important issues. We’re deeply grateful for his leadership, creativity, and for being an all-around wonderful colleague during a pivotal time for GGWash.

The next Managing Editor will carry forth this work and add their own strengths, skills, and ideas.

GGWash conducts journalism through a distinct lens and with a recognizable voice — as a mission-driven organization, we have beliefs about the world we want to see, and journalism is a tool to get us there. GGWash’s publication features news and opinion pieces intended to advance racial, economic, and environmental justice in land use, transportation, and housing throughout Greater Washington. The GGWash publication is a key component of the organization’s broader work, which includes education and engagement programming, as well as policy and advocacy.

If you’re curious to learn more about this role and whether it’s right for you, read our full job posting and application instructions here. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Chelsea Allinger (she/her) is GGWash's executive director. Outside of GGWash, Chelsea is a doctoral candidate in public policy and public administration at George Washington University. She served as an elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Washington, DC, from 2019-2023.
