Spring is finally here and Greater Greater Washington is hosting a gala this Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 6:00-9:00 pm at Mess Hall in Northeast DC. There are less than 10 tickets left, so grab yours today!

This celebration is your chance to connect with people from across the region who are passionate about making our communities greater, quaff locally made drinks from the open bar, and indulge in delicious (and sustainable) hors d’oeuvres. It’s an evening out for a good cause: each ticket sale directly supports GGWash’s work to help advance racial, economic, and environmental justice in land use, transportation, and housing throughout Greater Washington. We hope to see you there!

Designing Pennsylvania Avenue for people: Join the National Capital Planning Commission at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 26 for the second public meeting reimagining the design of Pennsylvania Avenue.

The proposed Pennsylvania Avenue Vision aims to transform the Avenue between the White House and the US Capitol into a venue that celebrates its civic role and spirit of democracy, creates an inspiring public realm, and modernizes infrastructure to make the Avenue a great street and an iconic destination. Three concepts explore different approaches on how to achieve this vision, with an emphasis on multimodal access and placemaking. They also provide a comparative and inspirational overview of potential options that can be mixed and matched. RSVP for the April 26 meeting here or visit the NCPC’s project Vision Page to learn more.

Leveraging transit to meet our climate goals: Cutting greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, which account for 29 percent of total emissions in the United States, is going to take a multifaceted approach. Leveraging public transit networks is an important part of that strategy. While the COVID pandemic has slashed ridership and posed looming financial problems for transit operations, it’s also providing an opportunity to rethink regional transportation networks to adapt transit to changing travel patterns.

Join the Eno Center for Transportation on Tuesday, April 26 from 2-3 pm to learn how regions are deploying new incentives, policies, and tools to make transit a leading part of sustainable mobility.
